Jewellery week at Crafty ribbons.

Heya! First of all let me apologize for being such a bad blog friend. Will visit all your blogs soon, I promise.

This will be a very short post, because I'm soooo tired. But before I fall in bed I just wanted to let you know that on Crafty ribbons blog is a "jewellery week" this week. 

So if you like ribbons and jewelry, this is something for you. You will see lots of amazing jewellery ideas with ribbons and buttons. How awesome is this? I've already gotten some ideas for my next project(s). ;)

Tag for my sweetie

Good morning! It's been a very stressful week so far, but I hope things will calm down soon. Today is my last day at work and this means I will have some more free time. Well, sort of. There's still quite some renovation work to be done in the apartment, but the "yucky part" is already over (at least most of it). We've already bought some furniture as well and the rest we're going to buy in the following days.

Ok, enough of my babbling. Let's rather talk craft related things. :) First I have to tell you that I was chosen as one of the new DT members of Sweet Pea stampers challenge blog. :) And as the new challenge started today I want to show you the first project I made ...

The theme of the current challenge is "for the men/boys". You probably know that I don't make many cards (or other projects) for boys/men. So this one was a big challenge for me. Especially since all the Sweet Pea stamps I have are images of fairies or angels. So I had to think outside the box. I decided to make a tag for my sweetie - one that I can use on any occassion. I used Rachel Anderson's Mystic image and stamped it one the Sizzix design paper. Then I cut the door out and made it a border. I glued it on the piece of white cardstock and then cut the cardstock in the shape of the door. I embossed the tag with Cuttlebug's Swiss dots embossing folder. I wrote the sentiment by hand and then cut the eord out one by one, inked the edges, raised them on foam pads and glued them on the tag. Then I just added two foam hearts and a flower to decorate the tag. I hope my sweetie will like it!

Trying something new

Hey hey! How are you? I'm enjoying my free days. :) Not long anymore and I will be able to fully relax and enjoy in summer holidays. Can't wait! :)

We started renovating the apartment a couple of days ago. We're in no hurry so we are working there for as long as we feel like it - sometimes it can be the whole day and sometimes it can only be a couple of hours. We're planning a trip to Ikea in the following week or two. I'm really looking forward to this. I LOVE Ikea! :D

But enough babbling ... Let me rather tell you a couple of things about the card I'm about to show you. My sweet friend Rosie sent me a water brush and some distress inks a short while ago (thank you girl!!!) and after watching several YouTube videos about coloring with water brush I finally decided to give it a try. I still need a lot of practice, but I think the result is ok for the first  time. Well, I'll let you be the judge. Just don't be too harsh, ok? ;) Anyways, here's the card.

I used the sweet Tilda with big tulips for my card. As I said, it was colored with distress inks. The inks I used are tea dye, vintage photo, antique linen, walnut stain and tattered rose. When the image was dry I added some glitter glue on the tulips. Around Tilda I stamped with Magnolia chocolate stamp. I used several different dies on the card. The lace border around Tilda and the big flower are Marianne design dies, the corner is Spellbinders die, the swirl on the left is TH die and the swirl above Tilda is a part of one Marianne design flower die. The small flowers were made with my craft punch. In the center of each flower and on the corner I added pearls from my stash. The pearl striengs behind the big flower are from Rayher. The lace and ribbon are from Crafty ribbons. You can find the lace here and the brown velvet ribbon is here. I didn't use and design paper on this card. I just used my old music notes sheet and coloured it with distress inks.

Flowers galore

Hey hey! I'm melting here. I know I've been wanting sun and warm days, but this is a little bit too much. We have 35 degrees Celsius here. Hut, hot, hot! I wouldn't mind being somewhere on the beach right now ... One can dream, right? ;)

Today a new challenge started at Crafty ribbons challenge blog and our theme is "flower galore". In case you didn't know, we are now a weekly challenge and we also limited the number of entries you can enter each challenge. You have all the info about the challenge rules at the challenge blog so I won't go into details here. I'll just show you the card I made.

I decided to use one of the older Magnolia stamps on my card. This sweet Tilda was my very first magnolia stamp and I still love it. :) I colored the image with Promarkers. On the white parts of the dress and on the bow I added some glitter glue. The papers I used are just some leftover scraps of flowery papers that I had in my drawer; they are from various companies. I used 2 different ribbons on my card - light blue satin ribbon and tuftan saddle stitch ribbon. Both of the ribbons are from Crafty ribbons. The butterflies are MS punch and Cheery Lynn die, the corner is SB die and the flowers were made with my craft punch. I also used my border punch. In the middle of each flower I added a crystal from my stash.The white piece of cardstock behind Tilda was embossed with Cuttlebug's swiss dots embossing folder and then distressed with TH antique linen distress ink.

Let's celebrate

Heya! Who's counting the days til summer holidays finally begin? I definitely am. I won't go to any longer holidays abroad this summer, but I hope to do one or two one-day trips aound my country. Maybe to the Coast. That wouldn't be bad. ;)

I never have any birtday card on hand when I need it so I decided I would make a few. And this is one of them. I fell in love with this adorable image from Yumi and Fumi handmade. It's perfect for birthday cards as well as for other occassions. And it's a pleasure to colour too. :) I coloured Fumi with Promarkers and paper-pieced the gift she's holding with champagne sparkle paper - it's very beautiful in person. The other papers are various scraps that I had in my drawer. I distressed the edges with TH tea dye and antique linen distress inks. The ovals are made with Spellbinders die, butterflies are Cheery Lynn die, the leaves and the big flower are Marianne design dies, the middle flower is TH die and the small flowers are made with my craft punch. I also used 2 different embossing folders - Craft concepts' cottage floral embossing folder and  Cart us' trendy flowers embossing folder. In the center of each flower I added a purple crystal from my stash. In the left upper corner you can also see a skeleton leaf peeking from behind. I bought a pack of these leaves ages ago (of course back then they were something I couldn't craft without), but never used any of them. *sigh* I even forgot I had them. So now that I re-discovered them I hope to put them to some use.

Card for a very brave little girl

Hey hey! I hope you are enjoying on your weekend. We're having a beeee-utiful day today. Sunny and pretty warm, but at the same time not too hot. Exactly the way I like it. He he. I had to work yesterday (in the morning) and in the afternoon my sweetie and I went to some furniture shops to have a look around (and of course I stopped by some other shops too :P). We are planning to buy most (if not all) furniture in Ikea, but we still wanted to check what's available here. Nothing really caught our eye though. I had the feeling that I was looking at the same pieces all the time, they were just positioned diferently. So much about their creativity. :S Luckily Ikea isn't very far from here. ;)

The card I want to show you today is made for a special girl. Have you heard about Maddy? I saw her picture on several blogs so I clicked on it to read her story. It's really touching. She's such a brave girl! If you want to read her story, please click here. It's really easy to make someone's day. Even a simple card will do. Maddy loves getting cards in the mail and I am more than happy to send her one.

Here's the card I made for her.

I chose the adorable Fumi with gift from Yumi and Fumi handmade as my main image. Isn't she a cutie? I colored her with Promarkers. The gift she is holding was paper pieced - first I stamped the image again on the kraft piece of paper and cut the gift out. Then I embossed the gift and added some glitter glue on the embossed parts.I raised Fumi on foam pads. The beautiful flowery paper I used for the background is from Studio Light. I used several different dies and punches on my card. The borders were made with my border punches, the small flowers with my flower punch, the "bigger" flowers are made with TH Tattered floral die, the ovals and the yellow "ornament" behind the ovals are Spellbinders dies and butterflies were made with Cheery Lynn die that was a gift from my sweet friend Rosie.The white oval behind Fumi was embossed with Cuttlebug's swiss dots embossing folder and the other white piece of cardstock was embossed with Craft concepts' cottage floral embossing folder. I inked TH flowers with TH tea dye DI which was also a gift from Rosie. Thank you so much sweetie!!! The pearls are from my stash and the ribbons are from Crafty ribbons - I used 35 mm New Turq satin ribbon and 25 mm grosgrain ribbon.

Ribbon ring

Hey, hey! :) How are you? How was your weekend? Mine was fine. :) My mother-in-law (to be) celebrated her birthday yesterday. It was fun and we had a nice time. There was also lots of yummy deserts and cakes and of course I had to try them all. He he. ;)

I have something a wee bit different to show you today. Not a card. Actually, it's not even a paper project.  Shocking, I know. :P After quite some time I made another piece of jewelry. ;) I made a ring, using silver edge satin ribbon black and 3 mm black satin ribbon from Crafty ribbons. Here's what the ring looks like ...

What do you think? It's the first time I made naything like it. It's very easy and fun to make (and very quick too) so I think I will make more of these in the future. :)
