First of many

Good morning! Looks like summer is gone. For the last couple of days we've been having a yucky weather and the temperatures aren't high anymore either. But I guess that's normal, since September is just around the corner. 

Today a new challenge went live at the Sweet Pea stampers blog and the theme for this challenge is "Fantasy". So ink those fairy, mermaid etc. stamps and get creative. :) Before I show you the card I made I want to tell you something about it.

The card I made for this challenge is very special. Why? Because it's the first (of many more) that will be going to my sweet friend who is fighting leukemia again. She suffered from this terrible disease a couple of years ago and she won the battle. Now, after being leukemia free for 2 years, leukemia returned. I was really shocked when I heard the news. She is one very, very sweet person, full of life and optimism. And not long ago she also became a mummy. And now this ... :( Because she lives on the other side of the world I can't go and visit her, but I still wanted to do something. So when I heard they were having a garage sale to raise some money for the treatment, I immediately wrote her, asking if I could do something. And she asked me if I could send her some cards and/or jewelry for the garage sale. Of course I said yes! And this is the first card that was made especially for this occassion. I hope Britney will like it.

I used Ching-Chou Kuik's Fly butterfly stamp and colored it with distress inks. In the wings and on the dots of her dress I also used some diamond Stickles. The papers I used are from Provo Crafts and from Nature collage kit by Artsy Collage and I used scissors and distress inks to distress the edges. Lace, gems and doily are from my stash and flowers are from various companies. I embossed the banner that's peeking from behind the image with Cottage floral embossing folder. The butterflies are made with my craft punch and the dies I used on this card are from Marianne design and Spellbinders.

Little birdie

Heya! It's Thursday again and this means it's time for another challenge at Crafty ribbons challenge blog. :) Our challenge for this week is everybody's favourite - anything goes with ribbon. So feel free to make whatever you want, but don't forget to use some ribbon on your creation too.

I decided to make a card with a little birdie image from Whiff of Joy.

I'm really into blue and brown colour combination lately (in case you didn't notice lol) so I made this card in these colours too. I know I made some "boo-boo" in coloring, but I'm still learning. Will do better next time!  All the dp's I used are from Arty collage "Nature collage kit". I distressed the edges with scissors and inked them with TH distress ink. I just looooooove the big beige flower I used on this card. It was a gift from my sweet friend Rosie (thank you girl). I barely got myself to use it because it's so pretty (I'm a hopeless case, I know). The paper flowers and roses are from my stash. On tag I stamped with Stampabilities Faded text background stamp and defferent stamps from Recollections. The ovals and corner die cuts were made with my Spellbinders dies. I embossed the oval behind the birdie with Cottage floral embossing folder from Crafts concepts. I raised the birdie on foam pads. Gems are from my stash and lace and seam binding ribbon are from Crafty ribbons.

Door hanger tutorial

Good morning! First of all a big thank you to all of you who haven't given up on me even though I'm not visiting your blogs as much as I'd love to at the moment. But I hope this will change soon. The apartment is nearly finished and unless something goes terribly wrong (fingers crossed it won't) I'm moving this weekend! Yes, only a few days left. I'm really excited about it and cant wait!! :D And once I'm settled in at my new place I will visit your blogs more regularly again - pinky promise. ;)

Thursdays are always fun days at Yumi and Fumi Handmade blog, because DT members share their tips, tutorials etc. with you. And today is my turn. I was scratching my head, thinking hard what to make and at the end I decided to make a door hanger tutorial. I hope you will like it!

For starters let's check what you will need ...

So, as you can see you will need  piece of white cardstock and some design papers of your choice, scalloped circle and circle dies, stamp (I used Yumi from Yumi and Fumi Handmade) and some embellishments.

First thing you will need to do is to cut your papers. I used a 10 x 20 cm white cardstock as a base then I cut each layer 5 cm smaller. I also distressed the edges with my scissors and TH distress ink, but that's optional. You should end up with something like this.

Then glue the papers together. You can use the "normal" glue, but I prefer to use sticky tape.

Once you've done this, take your scalloped circle die to cut a scalloped circle from a piece of paper and glue it on top (in the middle) of your door hanger base.

Now place your door hanger base on your cutting machine and put the circle die on the scalloped circle. Like this ...

And here's what you will end up with ...

Voila, your door hanger base is complete. Now you just need to decorate it however you want. :) Here's what mine turned out ...

I used TH distress inks for coloring Yumi and I decorated the door hanger with some pearls, flowers and lace from my stash. I also used a Cart-us border die and Couture creations Super powder puff embossing folder. I wrote the sentiment by hand.

Photo inspiration at Yumi and Fumi Handmade

Good morning! I hope you've been enjoying your weekend so far. I've been very busy with all the work at the apartment, but it's worth it, because it looks like we can move in next weekend! :D Can't wait!

I've barely had any time for my hobbies, because when I got home I usually just went to take a shower and then fell into bed, but whenever I had some energy left I did some crafting. And one of the cards I made is also for the Yumi and Fumi Handmade "photo inspiration" challenge that started on Yumi and Fumi Handmade blog today. We would like you to get inspired by the photo and go creating.

Since it's a photo of a cake I decided to make a birthday card (you can never have too many of those, can you?!) and I also used the colours as my inspiration. This is not really a colour combination that I would normally use, but I thought the colours looked great together so I decided to give this colour combination a try. And here's the result ...

I used the adorable Fumi with gift for the center of my card. Her dress and gift are paper pieced and hair and skin were coloured with Promarkers. The papers, doily and crystals are from my stash. On the gift I used some glitter glue to make it sparkle. Small flowers and butterflies are made with my craft punch and the bigger flower and swirl are Marianne design dies. I wrote "happy birthday" by hand.

Flowers in my garden

Good morning! Sorry I've been a bit quiet lately, but my sweetie and I have been spending most of the time in the apartment.It's been a lot of work, but it's really nice to see how things are slowly coming together as they should. Just a little bit longer (maybe 2 weeks?) and we will be able to move to our new place. Can't wait! :) 

In the evenings (if I still have any energy left :P) I try to do some crafting. It's taking me a couple of days to finish a card, but that's fine. I'm not in a hurry. One of the cards I finished recently is this one ...

I'm really into blue and brown colour combination these days so I decided to make a card in these colours too. The papers I used on this card are from K&Co. I was going for a bit more vintage look so I distressed the edges with my scissors and then inked them with TH distress ink. I used distress inks for colouring the image (it's a digi stamp from A day for daisies) too. Around the image I stamped with Recollections stamp and on the tag and on the white flower I stamped with Faded text background stamp from Stampabilities.As you can see I used several different dies and punches on my card - I used MS butterfly punch, my border punch, Marianne design leaf die, Spellbinders circle die and corner die and a doily circle die that my friend kindly let me borrow to make a few die cuts (thankyou Jasmina). :) Flowers are from my stash. Gold crystals are cut from a crystal mesh that I had in my stash and the lace is from Crafty ribbons.

Anything goes at Yumi and Fumi Handmade

Hey, hey! Today a new challenge started at Yumi and Fumi Handmade blog - it's my first challenge at the DT. How exciting is that?! :D It's everyone's favourite - anything goes. And not only you can make anything you want, you can also use ANY stamped image on your card/project. Of course we would love it if you used Yumi and Fumi Handmade image, but as I said, you don't have to.

I decided to make a plate for this challenge. I'll show you the picture in a second, but first let me apologize because the quality of the photo isn't the best. Not matter what I couldn't get the right light and even all the Photoshop magic didn't work. :S I'll take a better picture for the next challenge, I promise! And now let me show you the plate.

I used the adorable Yumi from Yumi and Fumi Handmade. Seemed appropriate for the first time since I'm team Yumi. He he. I coloursed her with distress inks. The paper has been in my stash for a long, long time, so no idea about the brand. But I really like it and I thought it would be perfect for a girly plate. :) The lace is from Crafty ribbons and the gold gems are from the mesh I had in my stash. The flowers are from my stash as well. I made the butterflies with my craft punch and the letters are cut with TH Vintage market die, embossed with Cuttlebug's swiss dots embossing folder and distressed with TH brushed corduroy distress ink.

Sweet pea bookmark

Heya! A new challenge started today at Sweet Pea Stampers blog and the theme for the next 2 weeks is embossing. I was just reading a book (Inferno by Dan Brown) when I was getting ready to make something for this challenge and I was just using a piece of paper to mark the page where I left instead of a bookmark so I decided to make one. I'm pretty sure I have several bookmars somewhere, but they are nowhere to be found when I need them.

Anyways, here's the bookmark I made:

Again, I only used some leftover pieces of scrap paper from my stash. The image I used is Ching-Chou Kuik's Nostalgia and it's coloured with Promarkers. On the hair accessories and on the pieces of background image I used some Rayher glitter glue and Viva decor pearl pen. The embossing was done with Cuttlebug's embossing folder and the butterflies are made with my craft punch.The picot edge circle and "normal" circle are Spellbinders dies. And as you can see I also used my border punch.

Altered writing pad

Hello my lovlies! How are you? I hope you are enjoying these lovely summer days! It's been pretty hot here so I've been staying inside as much as possible and eating lots of watermelon (love it) to cool me down a little. It's a plus site to all these heat too - since it's too hot to do anything outside I can be inside and do a lot of crafting. :D

Today a new challenge started at the Creafty ribbons challenge blog and the theme chosen by the sweet Gretha is to use one of more circles on your card/project. My teamies all made wonderful things using circles so I hope you will hop to the challenge blog and check them out. I decided to alter a small writing pad.

How do you like the transformation? I'm pretty happy with the result! I used some leftover pieces of my scrap paper for this project and my sweet mini baby Tilda stamp, which I coloured with distress inks. The picot edge circle and the "regular" circle dies are from Spellbinders. On the picot edge circle I drew some dots with my Viva decor pearl pen. I used this pen to make some dots around Tilda and on butterflies too. The butterflies were made with my craft punch and the gems are from my stash. I used several different ribbons on my project and they are all from Crafty ribbons - I used white french rose ribbon, baby sheer dots pearl pink ribbon and baby 3 mm pearl pink ribbon.

I'm part of Yumi and Fumi ohana! :)

It's finally here, August 1, the day when I can finally share my news with you ... I'm now a member of Yumi and Fumi Handmade ohana! :D I'm SO excited!!! I really like their stamps so when I saw they were having a DT call I immediately signed up and kept my everything crossed that I would get in. And it paid off! Yay! :D I will be working with a bunch of very sweet and talented ladies and I'm really looking forward to it! There are two teams and I am team Yumi. :)
