Longing for spring

Hey there! :) Are you ready for the weekend? I am! We have a carnival here today so there will be lots of kids (and probably even some adults) dressed up everywhere. I'm not dressing up (not my thing), but I will dress up Amadeja. He he. ;) We had different ideas about what costume will we get for her; our first thought was "Jon Snow" - trust me, this costume would be perfect for her, but none of our relatives watch Game of thrones so no one would understand this costume and we really didn't feel like explaining it to everybody. Anyways, after lots of thought we decided she would be an angel this year. I know it's not original or unique, but she is our little angel, so it makes sense. :) One of our traditional masks has the "job" to chase away winter and bring spring to the country. I hope they will succeed.

Talking about spring ... This is the new challenge theme at The Sketchy Challenges. I hope you will come play with us!

I haven't used a Magnolia image on my cards for a long, long time, so I decided I would make a card with one for this challenge.

When someone says "spring" I immediately think about flowers, butterflies and pastel tones, so I used all those things on my today's card. And I thought this cute Tilda was perfect for a spring card. What do you think? Papers I used on this card are from MME and all of the embellishments came from my stash. I coloured the image with Promarkers and pencils.

So much from me today. See you again soon. :)

I'd like to enter my card to the following challenges:
Creative inspirations: Petals and pearls (I used tiny pearls on the butterflies)
Simon says stamp: Anything goes
Magnolia-licious: Anything goes
Midweek Magnolias: Anything goes with Magnolia image

Happy birthday, my sweet little girl

Exactly one year ago my life changed completely - I became a mummy to the sweetest little baby girl. A lot has happened in this year and even though it was hard at times, I would never go back. This year was magical and the joy this little girl brings into my life every day is indescribable. I love her to bits.

To celebrate this special birthday, of course we needed a special cake as well. I think I've said it before, but will say it again ... When it comes to baking, my mum rocks! So I asked her if she could make a special cake for her granddaughter. And she said she would. And boy, oh boy, she made an AMAZING cake. I could almost say she made the impossible possible. Why? Because we wanted to have a FRUIT cake in the shape of a mushroom. And she did it! Believe me, it was quite a challenge and A LOT of effort, hard work, time and love (not to mention the ingredients) went into this cake, but the result is simply stunning. But why I am just telling you this, I'll rather show you the photo (I have my mum's permission to share this cake on my blog).

After we also also added my baby's name and shaped candle (no. 1) to the cake.

Doesn't this look like a fairy house? I just LOOOOOOOOVE this cake. Love, love, love it! And it didn't only look amazing, it was also DE-LI-CIOUS. Filled with raspberries, strawberries ... Oh, yum, yum. YUM!

Ok, now that we've covered the most important thing, I'll show you the invitations that I made for Amadeja's birthday. I made two different ones and I kept them simple, but I hope you will like them.

I created shaker cards, using the CC designs scalloped rectangle die and CC designs birthday mice stamps. Aren't they adorable? Love them! I did the colouring with Promarkers and pencils. Sequins came from my stash. I created the cloud background with homemade cloud stencil and TH distress inks.

I'd like to enter my cards to the following challenges:
Allsorts: Anything goes
Bastel Traum: Birthday/birth/white and one other colour
The ribbon girl: Use any image
Die cut divas: Using red or pink
One crazy stamper: Party time
Cute card Thursday: No patterned paper
Creative inspirations: Anything goes

Are you still with me? Hope so, because I have some more sweet news from you ... I can't share cake with you (shame, I know), but I do want to celebrate this big day with you, so I will send some crafty goodies to someone who leaves a comment here. No need to share anything on your blog, but you can if you want. Also, you don't need to be a follower, though I would be thrilled if you were. I'm not telling you what's in the candy, but will tell you that I will choose a winner on the first day of March. :)

Have a wonderful day!
Hugs! xx

Daphne with daffodil

Hello everybody! How are you doing? I'm doing fine. We finally got some sun yesterday and today and we used it to go for a short walk around the town earlier. The temperatures are getting higher too, which is also nice. Looks like spring will come here soon. Can't wait! :)

My baby girl is turning one later this month (goodness, where did this year went?! O.o) and I wanted to make a special birthday card for her. I brought out my favourite maja design papers (HVALA Jana!) and the super cute Daphne with daffodil stamp from Whimsy stamps. I love this image and I thought it woud be perfect for my card.

Since I wanted a shabby chic and romantic look on my card I decided to colour the image with distress inks (pads). I also used some liquid pearls (made with Viva Decor paper pen) and real tiny pearls on the wings. It's not visible in the picture (boo hoo), but I also used Wink of Stella brush on the wings and headband. I just love the shimmery look.

I decorated the card with different flowers (most of them are from I am roses and the others are from my stash), a charm, lace and I also used 2 small gems on the die cut hearts. I also used different die cuts from Cheery Lynn, Marianne design, Little darlings rubber stamps ... The tiny butterflies were made with Martha Stewart punch.

I hope you like the card. See you soon. have a wonderful day! xx

Hugs! xx

On your wedding day

Hey there! Today I don't have a card to share with you, but a mini album. I started working on this album last year (in September, I think), but I had sooooo many (other) things to work on at that time (as well), there was also December, when time flies by with the speed of light, as you know, that it took me til now to finish it. I made this album for a lovely lady who got married in October. I was going to send it to her as a wedding present, but as I am so late with it (oooops) she will get it as a surprise happy mail.

This wedding album is a bit different than you might expect. It's not SO elegant, but it's cute. Not something I would normally do, but to this particular lady and her hubby is perfect (in my opinion). Some of you might recognize the lady I'm talking about and if you do, please do NOT mention this album, this post or this blog to her, because I want this to be a surprise! So shhhh, ok? ;)

The colours of the wedding were blue/purple/pink, so I made album in those tones. And as the lovely couple got engaged at Disney World, I wanted to include some Disney magic in the album as well. For a change I knew immediately which paper pad I wanted to us - Sandylion's Disney Tinkerbell paper pad. Not only the papers in that pad are gorgeous and just the right colours (pink/blue/purple), they also have that "Disney magic" I was hoping for.   The pad comes with lots of stickers and die cut elements too, which is an added bonus. Plus, I know the bride likes Tinkerbell, so - score! :D

Let's go to the pics, shall we? Here's the cover ...

Since this album will be mailed and has quite a long way to go, I didn't want to fill the cover with tons of flowers and other 3D embellishments. Instead I spelled "our wedding" with stickers that came with the paper pad and decorated the album with Tinkerbell sticker and flower die cuts that came with the pad and a small metal heart embellishment from All my memories.

First two pages ...

Tags and those small dragonfly stickers came with the paper pad and the flowers are from my stash.

Third and fourth page ...

The corner on the left side is a chipboard piece which I painted with white gesso and then covered with light pink embossing powder. Over it I glued die cut word "love" and decorated it with some heart shaped crystals. Ribbon came from my stash. On the right page I created a pocked and decorated it with some lace and a sticker from the paper pad. In the pocket I added some tags.

Fifth and sixth page ...

On the left I created a double flap page and on the right page I created a "pocket" and put two tags behind. I decorated it with heart shaped crystals and some flowers. Behind the flower I tucked 2 small tags from the paper pad.

Seventh and eighth page ...

I just love those waterfall pages in the mini albums. Not only they hold lots of pictures, they also look very pretty in my opinion. I decorated it with a big handmade flower. On the right page I created a pocket that holds a tag and I decorated a pocket with one of the stickers from the paper pad and a paper heart from my stash.

Ninth and tenth page ...

Isn't that frame just too pretty? It came with the paper pad and I just raised it on foam pads so the happy couple can easily put a picture behind it. Then I just added some flowers on as decorations. On the right page yu see another pocket that holds one handmade tag and several Tinkerbell tags from the paper pad. Sentiment is a sticker that came with the paper pad as well.

Eleventh and twelfth page ...

Last two pages of the mini. On the left I added a pocket and added a tag in it. I decorated it with some die cut hearts and some small tags and a sticker from the paper pad. On the right page I randomly glued down some words - those are all stickers that came with the paper pad.

And the back ...

Each page of the mini album has a pucket and in each of those pockets is a tag. Here are the pictures of those tags.

I hope this album will make it safely to its destination and that the newly weds will like it. I also made a video of it.

So much for today. Have a wonderful day! xx
