New year, new project - Balsa box

Hello! :) How are you? Has the year 2015 been good for you so far? I can't complain. :) We took down our Christmas decorations and I even did some crafting. ;)

The other day I was browsing Pinterest (gotta love that site, but it is sooooo addictive) and came across a gorgeous balsa box. The link only went to the picture and as the picture didn't have any watermark it took me a while to figure out who made it. But with the help of Google I figured it out. ;) The box that I was inspired by was made by Leonie (I hope I spelled her name right) and you can check out her YouTube video if you want to see the box she made. She got the idea from another person on YouTube (SaCrafters) and she mention that lady also has a tutorial on that box so I went to her channel, checked out the tutorial and came out with this ...

I don't usually use black on my creations, but I do like pink and black colour combination A LOT and as soon as I saw that box I knew which papers I wanted to use. So ... I used some leftover pieces from the Prima Romance Novel paper pad (the black paper) and a 12x12 sheet of Daisy D's patterned paper (the pink paper).

As you can see I used a lot of flowers on my box. Lots and lots. ;) They are from Prima, Wild orchid craft ... From many different companies. Of course I had to add some butterflies on my box as well. ;) Those butterflies were made with a mod podge mold. I got a couple of those from my friend (thank you so much girl!!) and I just love them. I've mostly been using them to make butterflies (go figure lol), but I did make a couple of other things as well. :)

(this is the back of the box)

Besides flowers and butterflies I also used some pom pom trim, lace and bead trim to decorate my box. Oh, and bling. lots and lots of bling too. He he. ;)

It's very hard to catch all the details of this box on camera, but I did make a video for this project which you can check out if you want. :)

I hope you like my first project of 2015. :) Can't wait to hear what you think.

Have a wonderful day!
Hugs! xx

  8. Stunning little box, absolutely gorgeous, and get you sharing a you tube video too! I haven't got the courage up for that yet lol. I really should visit pinterest more, there is some fab inspiration out there, but I avoid it a lot because it's like a black hole where time doesn't exist, I can lose half a day there! Hope you're having a great 2015 :) xx

  13. First of all - I would like to say how nice it was to be able to hear your voice! Long distance relationships are soooo hard! lol

Your box is amazing Maja!! I'm the same as you, I never use black on my cards or projects, but now that I see how gorgeous it can look, you may have inspired me to give it a try, it's so pretty with all of the pinks!! Love your butterfly of course, mixed media suits you! The bead trim around the bottom is really top notch, love the feminine touch it gives the box! I love all your flowers too! What an amazing first project of 2015, can't wait to see what you come up with next! big hugs my crafty friend! :)

  27. Maja v novo leto si zakorakala s čudovitim izdelkom. Čeprav ne uporabljaš črne barve, pa je barvna kombinacija fantastična. Šatuljo si čudovito okrasila in všeč mi je pridih vintaga!
